4 Surefire Ways to Get That Car Loan

Owning a car offers many benefits. You will no longer need to use public transportation whenever you go to work or take long trips. As such, you can manage your time better and get to your destinations fast. Applying for a loan is a good alternative to buying a vehicle upfront.

Here are some tips to have your car loan approved:

Go to a car dealer instead of a private seller

Most lending institutions do not fund the purchase of a car if it is a private seller. This is due to two reasons: they are not sure about the quality of the car and the private seller may not know how to value the car properly. Instead, go to car dealers, as the lenders often trust them more. Just make sure that the car dealers in Manukau you talk to have a good reputation, so you can have an assurance.

Avoid new debts

This is already obvious, as you need to have your financial institution pay off the car for you. If they see that the ratio of your debt to your earnings is too big and that you are loaded with new debt payments, the loan application may not be approved.

Make sure you are employed for at least two years

Financial institutions need a way to ensure that you will be able to repay the loan in the future. One of the things they look into is your job history. If documents are able to show that the you have at least two years of experience in your current job, you will have a better chance of getting approved for a car loan.

Negotiate in a smart way

Buying a car requires smart negotiations, so do your research before you visit a dealership. If you have not read enough about something that a dealer is offering you, say “no” and then read more about it at home. If what they said is something that you like, then call the dealership a few days after so you can negotiate a better pricing.

Before buying a car, make sure your lender will be able to fund your car. Keep these pointers in mind to ensure a successful and trouble-free loan application process.

Why Waxing Your Car is Still Essential

Should you wax your car? It’s a question many car owners still ask today. The answer is ‘yes’ if you care about your car’s paint. Waxing makes car paint shine, and it gives the car a layer of wax as protection from exposure.

Waxing in the old days

Your dad and his dad probably used wax on their cars. Wax then was harder to apply than it is today. The most popular and “natural” wax is carnauba, and it is a very hard substance. These days, it’s hard to find 100% pure carnauba, but manufacturers still add it to their products along with formulations that make it easier to apply and last longer. Back in the day, cars wore lacquer paint, so wax was needed to make them shine. Now, there is a clear coat over that paint which makes the paint shine and protects it from early wear. Adding wax makes paint even shinier and gives it additional protection, so the clear coat also lasts longer.

How often should you wax your car?

When you buy a brand new or used car for sale in Raleigh, you need to wash it and apply a coat of wax. Many modern waxes claim a longevity of up to a year, but that’s only true if you never take your car out of the garage. Many contaminants that can affect that wax, so it’s best to reapply a coat at least twice a year: Once in the spring and then another before winter hits. Waxing every three to four months is plenty if you want to keep the car looking great for years.

Even more protection and shine

If you want to beat even that showroom shine, don’t settle for just wax. For relatively new car paint, here’s the method: Wash it thoroughly with a recommended car shampoo. Dry it with microfiber towels. Use a clay bar and soapy water or a detail spray to remove contaminants. Wash your car a second time and dry it. Apply a polishing product. Buff it to shine. Apply your favorite wax. Buff it. Apply a coat of paint sealant. That should give you better protection and a deeper shine. It’s a lot of elbows grease, but if you’re a car guy, it’s all worth the effort.

Taking care of your car includes waxing the paint now and then. When your car is ten years old and still good-looking, you’ll see how much it has benefited from your efforts.

Top Tips for Caring for Your Porsche and Other Luxury Cars

Someone once said that money can’t buy happiness, but it’s so much better to cry in a Porsche.

There’s a certain appeal to luxury cars that often has everyone staring in awe. It may be their sheer beauty or just the power that their top-of-the-line engines exude, but people seem to just not get enough of them. And with more and more people being able to afford these amazing automobiles (all thanks to a boom in NYC economy), taking care of luxury cars in centers like formulamotorsports.com have become a much more common area of interest.

Yes, like most regular cars, luxury cars do need routine maintenance and care to keep them running smoothly, but certain tasks set them apart a bit from regular vehicles. Of course, we expect a Porsche oil change to be a tad different from the oil change of any old car. So here are a few tips for taking care of that beautiful ride.

Outside Protection

Most luxury car owners tend to take up two or three parking spaces to keep other cars from parking too close, which might scratch their paint job. That’s not a good idea. First off, it does nothing to protect your coat. Secondly, other people actually get out of their way to deliberately scratch the cars of those jerks who do this. So don’t do it.

Protecting the exterior means keeping it from the harmful effects of the environment. If you own a garage, always park it inside where it’s safe from UV radiation. If it’s not possible, use a car cover to protect your car.

Routine Maintenance

This might sound too basic but it’s worth mentioning. Perform routine maintenance on your luxury cars to keep them in excellent shape. Most owners fall into the trap of simply not doing it because luxury cars use the kind of fluids that don’t need to frequent changing. But remember to always keep to your maintenance schedule even if you don’t use your car that often.

We all want to drive home a luxury car, but what most people don’t know is how to keep that car in great condition. Whether you have a Porsche or just some regular old sedan, it pays to know how to care for your car.

The Mustang You Didn’t Know

Beautiful mustangFord Mustangs have always had a universal appeal. People of all ages love Mustangs of all year models. The mere mention of this iconic car’s name usually brings to mind the 1967 fastback Eleanor from Gone in 60 seconds, the crazy 2000 Cobra R, or the many desirable special edition Mustangs of late. However, rarely do people think about the 1979 to 1993 Mustang. The Car’s parts, however, are what makes the vehicle unique, according to Anderson Ford Motorsport.

The History

Lovingly called the “Fox body” by enthusiasts, the third generation Mustang built from 1979 to1993 is one that is usually overlooked by beginner Mustang buyers mainly because it barely has any resemblance to the iconic Mustang of the 1960s. However, little do they know that it is one of the best project car platforms ever made.

Initially, the Fox body was not all that impressive. It came with a 5.0 liter V8 that made 225 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. Enthusiasts hated this engine when it came out on the Fox body because it was an old block dating from 1961. The car was also generally known for its boat-like handling and unpredictable rear axle. Today though, these are not a cause for concern because the Fox body shares the same platform as Mustang models until 2004. The Fox body can accommodate much newer, technologically advanced parts from newer Mustang models. Add to that the abundance of 1979 to 1993 Mustang parts in the market and you end up with a highly customizable platform for a project car.

An Icon in its Own Right

The Fox body Mustang may not look like the Mustangs of the past, but its distinct styling and limitless customization options make it an icon in its own right. It’s everything a true enthusiast would ever want: a V8 in front, driven wheels at the back, and a driver with a smile from ear to ear.

Auto Maintenance: Caring for Your Battery During Winter

During the harsh and cold winter season, the last thing you would want to deal with is your car dying because of a dead battery. Battery issues are among the most common causes of breakdowns during wintertime, and knowing how to keep your battery maintained in the cold months could help you prevent an issue with your battery later on. Consider these tips for proper winter battery care:

  • Keep your vehicle’s battery warm. If you have a garage, keep your vehicle inside when not in use. Otherwise, protect it with a thick and durable cover to safeguard it against the harsh cold. If you don’t drive your vehicle regularly or if you’re planning to store it during the winter season, outfit your battery with a charger. This would charge your battery periodically to ensure that it’s in great condition even when not in use.
  • Before you attach the leads, check the cables, and terminals. Clean off corrosion (if there’s any) and replace worn or damaged parts when necessary. Consider applying grease to ward off corrosion. Unplug the charger before attaching anything. If you’re unable to run cables without having to leave the boot or bonnet open, make sure that the light won’t turn on. Otherwise, LRC Automotive and other auto mechanics suggest that you remove the light bulb to decrease draining and prevent it from prematurely burning out your battery.
  • Prevent your battery from draining by turning off electrical devices prior to turning your engine off. Other devices, including phone chargers, iPods, or sat navs, must also be disconnected since these could also significantly drain your battery.

Caring for your battery is critical to ensure that your vehicle operates in optimum condition and that you avoid costly repairs. Auto mechanics also recommend that you have your electrical system and battery inspected prior to the winter season as an added safety measure.

Following the battery maintenance guidelines outlined above would help extend your battery’s service life and save you some money and a whole lot of stress. This is not only during the winter season, but for the many years to come.

Going Eco-Friendly: Could Metal Fabrication Support a Greener Future?

Metal cuttingThe metal fabrication industry has evolved significantly since industrial production began in the late 19th century. Thus, it is no surprise that some people see metal manufacturing as a revolutionary business. Despite advancements over the years, however, some of its processes remain harmful to the environment.

This issue has pushed people and companies to come up with ways, not to eliminate the industry altogether, but to make the metal fabrication industry ‘greener’. With the introduction of a green movement, they argue, more “green-collar jobs” will be created, paving the way towards a more sustainable future.

Green-Collar Jobs in the Metal Fabrication Industry

For a job to be green, it should either produce environment-friendly products or employ manufacturing processes that are environmentally sustainable, even if the final product is not considered strictly eco-friendly. The former refers to the output approach and the latter is the process approach.

Those in the metal fabrication industry can have the best of both worlds. A welding business, for instance, can employ the process approach if it makes use of eco-friendly welding techniques, such as diffusive welding and vacuum soldering. On the other hand, a metal fabrication company can utilise the output approach and produce green products like electric cars.

Towards a More Sustainable Future

Green inventions, such as wind turbines and solar energy farms, are usually the focus of the movement towards a more eco-friendly future. What these inventions have in common is the fact that a majority of their parts are metal. Clearly, a rise in the construction of these green energy structures will increase the demand for skilled metal fabricators and welders.

Furthermore, the greening of the metal fabrication industry can potentially attract new and young talent. Companies can use their green-collar status to draw in ecologically-conscious Millennials and Gen Z-ers.

The demand for more environmentally sustainable manufacturing techniques isn’t a fad. As more companies champion green business practices, the focus on environment-friendly industrial processes and technology will soon become the norm.

It is possible for the metal fabrication industry to support a greener future for the planet. The future for this industry is bright (and green) as it will need more people to help manufacture metal for sustainable technology.

Batteries: Great Power in a Small Package

Batteries can power up almost every imaginable thing there is. There are automobiles which need batteries to jumpstart their engines (not to mention, fully electrical vehicles which rely on batteries alone), as well as children’s toys and handheld electronics. Even industrial automated platforms, courtesy of platform hire companies, can be battery-powered.

They’re so common that batteries are often taken for granted. But despite their rather mundane appearance, batteries are among the most important technological advancements of the modern world. Without them, a lot of today’s conveniences would be nonexistent.

A Brief History

Batteries (or relatively primitive versions which aren’t used as power sources) have been around since 250 B.C. This was during the Parthian civilisation, which flourished in what is now modern-day Baghdad. Parthians had clay jars filled with vinegar, wherein they put a copper cylinder with an iron rod sticking out the top. Used for electroplating silver, the Parthian battery didn’t go further in terms of technology until the 1800s.

This was when the Italian physicist Alessandro Volta, who built a so-called voltaic pile made up of zinc and copper plates, where brine or vinegar-soaked pieces of leather or pasteboard were sandwiched between plates. Volta’s pile was demonstrated to create a constant flow of electricity. It was Volta’s basic principles concerning his voltaic pile that are still used in modern batteries today.

Technological Advancements

Batteries never really advanced much past week-long standby features, until April of 2013. It was then when researchers from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign introduced a new lithium-ion battery, which, according to them, is 2,000 times more powerful than conventional batteries. The new technology is purported to be the next step into other more complex technical endeavours, which require powerful-yet-compact energy sources.

Such developments open up a wide array of possibilities. For instance, it remains to be seen whether a single battery can power an entire home. With power interruptions and crises looming, this can be better than a conventional generator. Ideally, such a battery has to fill a typical 2000-watt usage, which is still not achieved. But with recent efforts from companies like Tesla, the future is bright.

Powerful yet compact energy sources are the thing of science fiction for now. In the event that they get invented, however, the possibilities are endless. Perhaps their arrival can also herald the development of giant robots, which require such power sources — a sight that fans of popular mecha culture will surely love.

Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Get a Fleet for Your Company

Company FleetIt’s common for business owners to hesitate whether they should get a fleet for their company or not. With the financial commitment it entails, plus the regular maintenance, lots of businesses are opting for the cents-per-mile reimbursement.

Although personal vehicle reimbursement looks less complicated on paper, there are a few important factors why getting a fleet will come up as the better choice. Here are the top five reasons why you should get a fleet for your company.

Protecting the Company’s Branding and Image

When your employees use their own vehicles, you give up the power to regulate your company’s corporate image, which is critical to your company’s success. Uniform and specifically- selected fleet establish an air of professionalism for your business and can further define your brand’s identity.

If you put logos, signs, and contact numbers on your fleet, it can also double as a free advertising space.

They Can Be Less Expensive

Getting a fleet of company vehicles usually cost less than the individual vehicle’s retail price. Many manufacturers provide fleet incentives and allowances that can further cut back on the company’s expenses. Same goes with fleet auto services. Auto service companies, such as Pickering’s Auto Service, believes that a good fleet service helps company owners save both time and money.

Selling Point for Prospective Employees

Although personal vehicle reimbursement can be attractive because of its flexibility, this does not cover employees who do not own a car or a kind appropriate for work. A company-provided vehicle is a big incentive and can entice future employees to apply to your company and keep the ones you have now.

Reimbursement Problems

Depending on how your company measures the reimbursement for personal vehicle use, your employees might get inconsistent refunds. While for some, reimbursement provides an opportunity for padding of mileages just to get more allowance.

The cents-per-mile reimbursement that increases annually can cost more compared to the cost-per-mile with a company fleet.

Employee’s Safety

For a lot of fleet programs, vehicles have current safety features that employees might not have on their personal vehicles. Moreover, an employee may have insufficient insurance to protect them from accidents during working hours.

Company-provided vehicles might look like the more expensive option but a well-maintained fleet guarantee that its cost-efficient for your company. It also gives the owner the power to oversee certain safety regulations that employees might neglect when they’re using their personal vehicles.

Four Practical Ways to Sell Your Old Car

Are you selling your old car here in Christchurch? It may be a time-consuming task and an emotionally draining one if you have grown attached to your old car. Times change, though. Perhaps you have or planning to get a new car, or you have another reason for selling.

Regardless of the reason, you can sell your old car in different effective ways.

Method #1: Trade-In

The first and probably the most convenient way for many is a dealer trade-in. You can trade your car in if you are looking to purchase a new car. The price the dealer is willing to pay for your old vehicle will be deducted from the price of the new car of your choice. You can simply pay the remaining overhead afterwards.

Method #2: Private Sale

A private sale is probably the most time-consuming. Apart from advertising and preparing your old vehicle, you also have to pay any outstanding license fees, update road-user-charges, and certify the safety of your old vehicle with a warrant of fitness. You also have to notify the NZTA of your sale.

Method #3: Auction

Do you have a rare or classic car worth collecting? You can put your old car up on auction. The promotion, sale and related paperwork of the auction will be taken care of the service provider. You will simply pay a fee for the service.

Method #4: Wreckers

Sometimes, you are left with nothing else but a junk of a car. As you already know, buyers will be impossible to get. With a junk old car, you can only bring it to wreckers such as Toyota dismantlers at Christchurch Wreckers. You can still receive quite a few dollars from the wreckers, but do expect quite low compensation.

Make Your Choice

These are the ways you can sell your old car. What method should you pick? You can choose based upon your priority. For example, you can trade your car in if you value your time, or you want to buy a new car. You can also sell privately if you value a high compensation.

You can choose the method that you think will work best for you.

Is Buying a Used Car Worth It?

Although buying a brand new car is often preferred by many, there’s no harm in purchasing a used car from Ford dealerships. Used cars have their own advantages that a brand new one can’t offer.

Initial Price

The cost of a used car is obviously lower than that of a new one. The difference between a used and new car, however, is incredibly large. Just by driving off the dealership, a brand new car loses around 30 percent of its value. With the years factored in, used cars will cost significantly less than that.

More Options

With brand new cars, you almost always have to choose from the latest models. That’s not a bad thing – but if you’re looking for a wider range of Ford selections, used cars are always better. In the used section, you might find cars going as far back as the 90s and still in their mint condition.

Security of the Car

By security, we refer to the fact that used cars are less likely to be stolen or broken into. Who would want an old model car when there are so many others out there with newer parts that can be used? With an older model, you should feel safe leaving it alone overnight and feel slightly confident that it will still be intact afterwards.

Ford Certification

The great thing about buying used Ford cars is that the brand pays close attention to the quality of a pre-owned product, explains an expert from Seelye Ford. They have this certification process that requires the item to pass an inspection to ensure that it’s still safe for reuse.

Upgrades Possible

Older models may come with older features, but that shouldn’t stop you from performing upgrades on the car. This means that you can make it more fuel efficient at a fraction of a cost or perhaps do something with the radio system.

These are only some of the perks in going for a used car as opposed to buying a new one. Just remember that as with many products, it requires extensive research before making your purchase.
